State of Healthcare in Maryland: Women’s Health

HealthCare Access Maryland’s new Speaker Series “State of Healthcare in Maryland” launched on October 20th with an event dedicated to women’s health. The event explored the many ways in which women’s access to and experiences of healthcare services has been transformed in the last two years, due largely to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our esteemed panel included Dr. Wendy Bennett, Johns Hopkins University; Dr. Clark Johnson, Luminis Health/Anne Arundel Medical Center; and Trish Reggio, MSN, RNC-OB, Frederick Health. The panel emphasized the importance of primary and preventative care for women across the life stages, and the challenges of women delaying or missing vital care and screenings during the pandemic. The event also discussed innovations within the healthcare system to reduce barriers to care, including mobile care services, telehealth visits, and Medicaid expansion for post-partum women.

The Speaker Series event was recorded and can be viewed below.
