HealthCare Access Maryland (HCAM) held its 5th and final 2020 Speaker Series event, “Maryland Maternal Health: What Businesses Need to Know to Support their Employees,” on Thursday, November 12th.
The panel, moderated by HCAM CEO, Traci Kodeck, brought a range of perspectives and expertise, including healthcare, advocacy, and human resources and benefits. Panelists included Dr. Robert Atlas, Mercy Medical Center; Blair M. Eig, M.D., MBA, M.A., Maryland Patient Safety Center; Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk, Maryland General Assembly; and Andrea Branscome, Truist.
The discussion explored trends and disparities in care for pregnant and post-partum women in Maryland, and ways to address them through legislation and improved employee benefits. Andrea Branscome provided an overview of the parental leave program at Truist, and the benefits the business has seen in employee recruitment, retention, and well-being.
